Q: Where are the sleigh rides located?
A: Our 2026 Christmas Sleigh Rides will be held at Ottercrest Farm, 4387 MacDonald Rd, Armstrong, BC V4Y 0N2. Maps works great for finding us! We will also have road signs as you get closer to the event. Please allow a little extra time for winter road conditions.

Q: What happens if there isn’t enough snow for a sleigh ride?
A: We don’t need a lot of snow, just enough to pack down our ground conditions! However, if there isn’t enough snow for the sleighs, we will change onto our festive horse-drawn wagons instead. The decision will depend on the conditions and what is safest for our horses.

Q: How long is the sleigh ride?
A: Rides are approximately 20 minutes long. Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled ride time so you have time to check in and get settled.

Q: Is there anything to do besides the ride?
A: Yes! You’re welcome to spend some time enjoying the Christmas atmosphere, visiting with the horses, taking photos, and warming up with complimentary hot chocolate.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Dress warm! The event and sleigh rides are outdoors, so we recommend warm layers, winter boots, gloves or mittens, and a toque. You’re welcome to bring a small lap blanket for yourself if you’d like some extra warmth on the sleigh.

Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Please leave your pets at home. For the safety and comfort of our horses and guests, no pets are permitted, with the exception of service animals.

Q: Can we bring our own food?
A: We provide complimentary hot chocolate for our guests. Please do not bring outside food onto the event grounds.

Q: Can I purchase a private sleigh ride outside of the scheduled event times?
A: Our rides are only available during the scheduled dates and times shown on Ticket Seller. We have a limited number of rides each day to make sure our horses get the rest and care they need.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
A: The safety and well-being of our horses, guests, and crew always comes first. If conditions become unsafe, Double Tree Ranch may need to cancel a ride or event day.
If we cancel due to unsafe weather, we will do our best to reschedule your booking. If rescheduling isn’t possible, affected tickets will be refunded.
If the event is going ahead but you cannot attend because of weather, illness, or road conditions, tickets are non-refundable. We encourage you to find someone who can use your tickets instead.

Q: Can I change my ride date or time?
A: Changes may be possible with enough notice, provided there are seats available in another time slot. Please contact Ticket Seller at 250-549-7469 for ticket changes.

Q: How can we sit with our friends or family?
A: When purchasing your tickets, please include the name of the party you’d like to sit with in the notes/request section. We’ll do our best to arrange groups together, subject to sleigh capacity.

Q: Ticket Seller won’t let me purchase enough tickets for my whole group. What should I do?
A: Ticket Seller will only allow you to purchase the number of seats currently available in that time slot. Try another time slot if you need more seats, or contact Ticket Seller at 250-549-7469 for assistance.

Q: Is there straw or hay on the sleighs?
A: Our sleighs have wooden benches, so you won’t be sitting directly on hay or straw. One of our wagons will have straw seating, which will be covered with blankets. Please note that hay and straw are present around the farm, so if you have allergies or sensitivities, we recommend keeping this in mind when planning your visit.

Q: Will we get to see or take photos with the horses?
A: Yes! You’ll have opportunities to see the horses and take photos during your visit. Please follow the directions of our crew and volunteers when you’re around them, as they are working horses. We ask that you avoid making kissing and clucking sounds at them during photos as they need to be listening for their drivers' cues.

Q: What if our ride is running late?
A: Sometimes loading guests, winter conditions, or working with horses means we may run a little behind schedule. We appreciate your patience while we make sure everyone - including our horses - is safe and comfortable.

Q: Who are the horses pulling the sleighs?
A: The sleighs will be pulled by Double Tree Ranch draft horses, including our Percherons, Belgians, and Shires. These big working horses are a huge part of what Double Tree Ranch is all about, and we’re excited to share them with you this Christmas. We love talking about our horses, so please don't hesitate to ask all about your team during your sleigh ride.
